Cyprus is often cheaper than the UK, Australia or Canada, but the total depends on your university, course and city. This guide breaks the cost down so you can plan a realistic budget.
Tuition fees
| University type | Typical non-EU tuition per year |
|---|---|
| Public university, undergraduate (e.g. University of Cyprus) | About €6,834 |
| Public university, master's | Roughly €5,000 to €10,000 depending on programme |
| Private university, most programmes | Roughly €7,000 to €12,500 |
| Medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and similar | Higher, often well above the ranges above |
Published figures differ between sources and years. Some private universities price each programme separately rather than publishing one table, so ask for the exact figure for your course, including any deposit and whether fees are fixed for the length of study.
Living costs
Many guides estimate living costs at roughly €700 to €1,200 per month, covering rent, food, transport and personal costs. Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca differ, and rent is the biggest variable. University accommodation can be simpler to arrange in your first semester.
Other costs to include
- Health insurance: required for the length of your stay. Estimates are around €300 to €500 per year, but quotes vary.
- Visa and residence permit fees: government fees for many student applications are modest, often in the tens to low hundreds of euros. Confirm the current table.
- Flights, documents and attestation: apostille or attestation, translations and travel from India.
- Books and materials: depends on your course.
Sample yearly budget

| Health insurance | €300 | €500 |
| Permit and admin fees | €150 | €400 |
| Approximate total | €15,850 | €27,800 |
These are planning estimates only, built from the ranges above. Your own total could fall outside them, especially for medical degrees.
